Ginnah Howard’s stories have appeared in Water-Stone Review, Permafrost, Portland Review, Descant 145, Eleven Eleven Journal, Stone Canoe, and elsewhere. Her Upstate Trilogy, three novels that capture the heroism and lunacy of life in Upstate New York’s s back country, include Rope and Bone (Illume Publications), Night Navigation (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), which was a 2009 New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, and Doing Time Outside(Standing Stone Books) . Howard’s latest book, I’m Sick of This Already (Illume Publications), is a teacher narrative about a year of working with a challenging group of students on improving their language skills, and contains a memorable portrait of each student.
